  2.          File Freedom is distributed electronically in a 30 Day Demo
  3.          form that can be upgraded to a registered form with the
  4.          addition of a registration number. During the Demo period,
  5.          File Freedom functions fully without reminders or
  6.          limitations.

  20. REGISTERING
  21.          Full instructions are included in the online help for
  22.          registering your copy of File Freedom.  A blank order form
  23.          suitable for printing is included with the file package.
  24.          It is now also possible to register through BMT Micro via the
  25.          internet, phone, fax or mail.  See the BMTMicro.frm also
  26.          included in the file package for details.

  29. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
  30.          File Freedom is a fast, very inexpensive, PM file manager with
  31.          an uncluttered, easy-to-use interface.  It is designed to be a
  32.          quick and efficient utility that requires a minimum of setup
  33.          yet does not skimp on features.  In fact, you will find in
  34.          File Freedom features not found in other file managers, at any
  35.          price, such as the capability to look inside a zip file WITHIN
  36.          a zip file and the ability to reorient the toolbar from
  37.          vertical to horizontal (and back again) at the push of a
  38.          button.  It also provides two harmonious yet distinct methods
  39.          of file management - Drag and Drop for those who prefer it,
  40.          and an alternate method which is also fast and easy.

  42.          If it suits your needs, this Demo form can be upgraded to a
  43.          Registered form with the addition of a registration code
  44.          available via Email, Fax or mail. It also comes with an
  45.          Install Program that puts File Freedom on your Desktop quickly
  46.          and easily.  If you try File Freedom and it just doesn't suit
  47.          your needs, an Uninstall Program is also included to make the
  48.          test drive painless.

  83. UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
  84.          If you are currently a registered user of File Freedom, or
  85.          currently trying out the Demo version, use File Freedom to
  86.          Unzip the zip package to a temporary directory.
  87.          After the files are unzipped, shut down File Freedom and then
  88.          run the supplied UPDATE.CMD file which will prompt for the
  89.          home directory and then copy over the pertinent files for you.
  90.          The FILEFRDM.INI file will not be changed in this process.

  92. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  93.          First, from an OS/2 command line, change to the directory
  94.          that contains the unzipped files.  File Freedom can be
  95.          installed in Demo mode simply by running the program from
  96.          it's home directory, but in that case a Desktop Object will
  97.          have to be created manually from a template.  Using the
  98.          installation program however, will copy the necessary files
  99.          to the directory of your choice and create a Desktop Object,
  100.          all in one easy step.  No changes are made to the CONFIG.SYS
  101.          file.  If the directory does not exist, it will be created
  102.          during installation.
  103.          Installing the registration number also requires the use of
  104.          the installation program.  If registering, choose the the
  105.          directory of your choice for installation. If the directory
  106.          is the same as the directory a demo was installed in, all
  107.          program settings will be preserved.
  108.          Once the program is installed, double-click on the program
  109.          Icon to start the program and press F1 once started. A Help
  110.          screen is displayed and an overview of File Freedom is the
  111.          first item in the Online Help. Links to all areas of Help can
  112.          be accessed from there or from the Help Menu.
  113.          Context-Sensitive Help is also displayed during any task by
  114.          pressing F1.

  116. UNINSTALLING FILE FREEDOM
  117.          In the event that, for whatever reason, it is desirable to
  118.          remove File Freedom from your system, this is very easy.
  119.          Simply run the UNINSTAL.EXE program from the directory that
  120.          File Freedom has been installed into.  It will remove the
  121.          program related files, remove the Desktop Object and clean
  122.          all references to itself from the OS2.INI file.  At the end
  123.          of this operation, the uninstall program itself must be
  124.          deleted manually.

  126. GETTING INFO-ZIP's ZIP 2.1 and UNZIP 5.2
  127.          File Freedom will only support the latest versions of
  128.          Info-Zip's compression /decompression set.  These can be
  129.          found at various ftp sites but the latest versions
  130.          (zip21x2.zip and unz520x2.exe) are always available at:

  133. VIEWERS
  134.          By default, File Freedom is set to use the OS/2 multimedia
  135.          viewers for examining multimedia files.  Some may prefer
  136.          other, more capable, viewers however.  A very capable and
  137.          fast freeware graphic viewer is GBMV written by Andy Key.
  138.          It is available on Hobbes (hobbes.nmsu.edu) as
  139.          "os2/graphics/gbm.zip". Many other freeware and shareware
  140.          file viewers can also be found there.
